OEDF — DAMMAM / KING FAHAD INTL AIRPORT – WEST RWY (34L/16R) ILS/DME Replacement Project

|
The purpose of this AIP Supplement is to notify aircraft operators regarding the replacement of two ILS/DME systems at King Fahad Intl Airport (KFIA) serving RWY (34L/16R) and to provide information on the impact of this replacement on Instrument Flight Procedures used and the RWY (34L/16R) at OEDF
|

3 Timeframe for the replacement activities:
|
The period of the replacement activities of KFIA ILS/DME systems serving RWY (34L/16R) is up to (6) six months. These activities are divided as follows:

Dismantling the current ILS systems |

- During the Working in Progress in phases 1 and 2 and the working hours identified in the NOTAMs, RWY 34L/16R will be temporarily closed and unavailable for ARR and DEP.
- No ILS/DME Instrument Approach Procedures (IAPs) available for 34L/16R.
- During the temporary closure of the RWY 34L/16R, cranes with a maximum height of 25 meters might be used, and the crane’s boom might be extended.
- RWY 34L/16R may be unavailable for ARR and DEP.
- Construction works close to runway strip 34L/16R. (Persons and vehicles must comply with all instructions, and clearance distances must be observed during RWY in use)

5 Impact of replacement of ILS/DME on air navigation from/to OEDF:
|
The following Instrument Approach Procedures (IAPs) are impacted by the replacement of the KFIA ILS/DME serving RWY (34L/16R) and will be suspended:
• REF AIP 2-OEDF-85 AND AD 2-OEDF-86 (ILS or LOC RWY 16R) suspended.
• REF AIP 2-OEDF-87 AND AD 2-OEDF-88 (ILS or LOC RWY 34L) suspended.

6 Alternative instrument approach available from/to OEDF:
|
Except for the suspended IAPs specified in paragraph 5 above, all other procedures will be available during the RWY 34L/16R operation.
The aircraft operators must consult all valid NOTAMs prior to conducting any flight from/to OEDF.
|
7 Activation of the AIP supplement:
|
Trigger NOTAM will be issued in accordance with AIRAC procedure.
|
8 Replacement or cancellation of the AIP SUP:
|
Any significant change in the current information would be notified by a replacement AIP.
This AIP Supplement will remain effective till further notice, and NOTAM will be issued to announce the cancellation of this AIP SUP.
